As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, let us reflect on all of the blessings which God has given us and how we might share those blessings with others in our community. This year Arl2473 will once again be serving the greater Arlington community and its surrounding areas.

So how did the Annual Thanksgiving Day Dinners Begin?
Brother Knight, Richard Duff (Brother in photo below in the green shirt), Former enlisted Marine, was at the Council on Thursday, Nov 17, 2017 and it was there that the factual answer was revealed - " It was 1984 and there was a committee of 5 Brothers who had an idea and 5 turkeys, yes, just 5 turkeys to make turkey dinners! FACT says Richard" Truth be told, it was "The Duff", who was also a chef in the Marines where he served up to 4,000 Marines at once, who wrote the playbook for the existing Knights Thanksgiving Day Dinners as it became what it is today.
However, it is Thom Galvin (the Brother with the white beard below) and his wife Marijo who have been the CO-Chairs (or Co-Coaches) of this event since 2008!
They have taken the playbook from "The Duff" and have made it into the "Super Bowl of Thanksgiving Day Dinners" for our community and for EDW - one of our proudest accomplishments and achievements!
Thank you, Richard, Thom, and Marijo!
NOTE: In 2020, Thom and Marijo passed the baton to Myles and Kate McMorrow who are now leading the Thanksgiving Day Dinner program.
FOOTNOTE: These two Brothers never met until that famous Thursday, Nov 17, 2017, in the Council Home when one Brother introduced the two to each other with "Oh, by the way, do you two know each other and about Thanksgiving Dinners?"...the rest is history!
